Very nice total package, and works well as...

Very nice total package, and works well as advertised. In my case, the glass was slightly thinner than expected, but Stepan reprinted and sent another set (actually two) of spacers for free just to make sure everything fit. Thanks so much!

In case it helps others: I used zip ties to secure the wooden pieces to the frame, which works better than the included metal bits if you don't expect to take it apart often.

A system designed for scanning books with smartphones and photo cameras.

Mark V has the most stable frame among all of the versions of our book scanning system, which saves time both during the scanning process and later, during the post-processing of the images.

The Full set consists of three main parts:
- Plexiglas book cradle
- Plexiglas top frame
- Support system for the phone(s) for mounting on the frame

The DSLR set consists of four main parts:
- Plexiglas book cradle
- Plexiglas top frame
- Support system for the phone(s) for mounting on the frame
- Support system for light DSLR camera(s) for mounting on the frame

The Top Frame set consists of two main parts:
- Plexiglas top frame
- Support system for the phone(s) for mounting on the frame

Cradle allows you to open a book at a 90-degree angle which makes the open pages to be almost flat. The top part of the book scanning system includes a bent Plexiglas part that flattens the pages of the book even more, allowing for perfect scanning.

The average speed of scanning with this system and a smartphone is 10-20 seconds per scanned page. To improve the results it may be useful to use voice commands or a Bluetooth shutter release (1x included in the package) to operate your phone's camera.

Additional software is needed for post-processing and turning a book into a PDF.
The total projected time spent per page to create the final PDF (without OCR and editing) is 20-30 seconds per page.

Book scanning frame is sold in the following sizes. Please check other listings in our shop for the other sizes.
- Small for the books with page sizes up to 13x18 cm (5" x 7")
- Medium is designed for books with page sizes up to 18x25 cm (7" x 10")
- Large may accommodate books with page sizes up to 23x31 cm (9" x 12")
- Extra Large may accommodate books up to 28x36 cm in size (11" x 14")
- XXL may accommodate books up to 44x56 cm in size (17" x 22")
